ARE THESE “REAL” FIRE DEPARTMENT T-SHIRTS?

There are some differences between the Ketchikan Volunteer Fire Department T-shirts sold through our website and in our stores, Sam McGee’s and Blasphemous Bill’s, and the Ketchikan Fire Department T-shirts sold in the vending machine at Ketchikan Fire Station #1.

The Ketchikan Volunteer Fire Department supplies the shirts sold online and in our stores directly to us. We have been selling these shirts since 2014—well before the existence of the fire station vending machine and long before the recent viral social media attention surrounding Ketchikan firefighter shirts.

Over the years, sales of these shirts have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Ketchikan Volunteer Fire Department and its activities. We have proudly supported the department for more than a decade and intend to continue selling these shirts and supporting the Volunteer Fire Department, regardless of how long the current social media attention lasts.

The shirts sold through the vending machine at Fire Station #1 are union shirts representing IAFF Local 2761, the International Association of Fire Fighters local representing members of the Ketchikan Fire Department. They are a separate product from the Volunteer Fire Department shirts supplied to and sold by our stores.

While both shirts celebrate Ketchikan firefighters, they are different products, represent different groups, and are sold through separate channels.
