Azurite and and Malachite are often found together. They are produced by the weathering of copper ore deposits. In fact their chemical formula is very similar, and malachite can pseudomorph azurite over time. This means that as azurite oxidizes, it chemically changes into malachite while still retaining the outward shape of azurite.

This specimen displays a gorgeous banding of colors, exhibiting nicely crystallized, deep gemmy blue rosettes of azurite  against the beautiful rich green malachite. It is crystallized all the way around, and can be displayed from many angles.
