Agadir Ammonites are excellent fossils to give as gifts for children, to display, and for collectors! Mined in Morocco.
Agadir ammonites are fossils of the mellitella ammonite. They are mined in the Agadir region of Morocco, and lived during the Cretaceous period, some 120 million years ago. They have excellent detail and are sought after for their overall size and quality. They are mainly composed of limestone, and have very little matrix on them. These specimens exhibit high quality morphological details in their clear ribbing. Sometimes, the centers have been carved to enhance detail that has been lost.
Specimens will vary as no two are alike. Ranging from 5″-6″ in length, 4″-6″ in height, 1.5″-2.5″ in width, and 2-5 lbs in weight.
